Create your company
Country, business type, tax ID and currency: what you choose only once.
What it is for
The company is your business inside Pixel One: its products, customers, sales, cash registers and books. When you create it you choose four things that decide how everything else works: the country, the business type, the tax ID and the currency.
Before you start
- An account with a confirmed email (Create your account).
- Your business's legal name and its tax ID: the EIN in the United States, or the RNC (your cédula if you are an individual) in the Dominican Republic. The ID can wait, but you need it to invoice.
The country, the business type and the currency are chosen only once and cannot be changed later. Take a minute to choose them well.
The steps
Open New company
On Select a company, click Create company. If you already have a company, the button says Create another company.
Choose the country
The Country sets the tax rules: the taxes, the identity documents and the chart of accounts your books start with.
Choose the business type
Type in Business type to search: grocery, pharmacy, restaurant, auto repair... With it, Pixel One starts with your business's usual categories, taxes and fields, and shows you the modules it uses: a repair shop sees Work orders, a restaurant sees Tables and Kitchen.
Fill in the legal details
- Entity type: Business or Individual. An individual invoices with their personal ID instead of a business tax ID.
- Legal name: as it is registered; it must match the tax ID.
- Trade name: the one your customers see. Optional.
- The tax ID (EIN or RNC). In the Dominican Republic, with the full number, Search brings the legal name from the DGII.
- Currency: it comes with the country's. Change it only if you operate in another: all the company's prices and amounts are in this currency.
Click Create company.
New company: only the essentials. The rest is filled in later in Settings. You reach your company's Home
The company is ready to work, with its Main register, its taxes and its chart of accounts.
By country
- Tax ID: EIN (nine digits).
- Currency: US dollar, and you choose your time zone.
- You start with a sales tax at 0 %: give it your state and county rate, or create several. Prices are typed without tax.
- A sale with no customer goes to Walk-in customer.
- The app and the documents start in English. See United States.
Why the business type cannot be changed
The business type is not a label: it creates categories, taxes and fields, and turns on whole modules. Changing it with the business running would leave screens that no longer apply and data that is no longer used. So if you made a mistake, write to support: they correct it for you and it is recorded in the company's History.
Common mistakes
- "The legal name does not match the RNC." Use Search to bring it exactly as the DGII has it.
- "I chose the wrong business type." Do not create another company yet: write to support.
- "I cannot create another company." Each account can own a limited number of companies. You can join all the ones you are invited to.
